The beginning of it was nothing like the book. He even was already at home, Hades had not lost his helm, everyone but him knew who his dad was, the gods were 30ft tall. What else? Percy was a jerk. In the books he has a few redeeming qualities, but in this he was just a boastful jerk. And honestly, 'the lotus eaters'? Where in the world would you get a lotus casino with people who ate demented flowers and then say, "Those were the lotus eaters,"? Not to mention that everything was just a bit obvious. Example: "I have strong feelings for you, I'm just not sure if they're positive or negative yet."
So yeah..............

the lotus eaters? probably inspired by the lotus's of Odysseus's journey. Riodan got the idea for the lotus Casino from the island that Odysseus stopped by. The people there ate lotus that made themm forget everything... if I remember, Odysseus did his normal, Kiss-up-to-Athena act, and all was fine and dandy.
